This little, 35 lb. Border Collie is called JESSIE. She has a silky soft medium length coat and has a lot going on behind those beautiful golden eyes that will touch your heart!  She is about 1-1/2 years old and has all the energy and enthusiasm that you would expect to see in this breed. JESSIE is still very much a puppy and loves to run, play & go on walks. She came to us with some initial wariness of being in a new situation, but with love and a gentle hand she has quickly settled into the routine in her foster home.

JESSIE has been an excellent house guest. Foremost, she is housebroken and signals its time to potty by pawing the door. She hasn’t been a nuisance barker or digger and in the evening settles down nicely in the house and at some point may rest her head on your foot if you are sitting on the couch! She is just adorable in so many ways! She sleeps quietly on her doggie bed at the side of our bed until morning and then starts her day off with a run with her foster brothers to gather the newspaper.

JESSIE is very treat motivated and  eager to learn. So far, she has learned to walk nicely on leash, sit, stay and come. We are currently working on ‘lie down’ and ‘drop it’. Her recall is excellent which allows us to take walks off leash (in safe areas only). She actually prefers to stay close to us on walks, but we need to be aware as her confidence builds.  JESSIE has been friendly with everyone she has met, but may be a little cautious with other dogs until she knows they are friendly . . . then she just wants to play. We are working on her loading up in the car as she’s a little anxious to do so. It appears not to have had much experience with this, but once in the vehicle she quickly relaxes.  JESSIE loves attention from petting and being brushed.  She will occasionally touch base with you by touching her nose to your hand.

We are looking for someone who will provide JESSIE with the daily physical and mental stimulation she requires. Her lucky adopter will need to continue the work we have started with her as she has tons of potential.  This photogenic girl would do very well as an only dog or with another companion of similar energy who will ACTIVELY play with her.  She  has had only limited exposure around cats but did not seem to have an issue with them. JESSIE is a dog who has shown us the ability to adapt and bond if provided  guidance, time, patience and lots of TLC.   She still has some initial wariness to new situations to overcome, but she is a special girl and we will certainly miss her! If you think you can help JESSIE to become the best dog she can be, Jessie would be pleased to discuss your future together!

JESSIE is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Application and wish to enquire about JESSIE please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration. JESSIE is being fostered in Nevada City in Nevada County, California.
